The Lodz Platelet Conference is organized on behalf of the European Platelet Group (EPG), and continues the series of meetings that have been held since 1983 in Erfurt, Germany. In 2002, for the first time, the 9th Erfurt Conference on Platelets was held outside Erfurt, Germany, and was incorporated into the Nottingham Platelet Conference. The combined meeting was very successful. The meeting returned to Erfurt for the 10th Erfurt Conference in 2002. Now, for the second time, this regular meeting on blood platelet is to be held outside Erfurt. The Lodz Platelet Conference will be held on 25th - 28th June 2006 and will incorporate the 11th Erfurt Conference on Platelets. Beside the European Platelet Group, three Lodz universities, i.e. Technical University of Lodz (TUL), University of Lodz (UL), and Medical University of Lodz (UMED), in a close cooperation with the Committee for Thrombosis and Haemostasis of Polish Academy of Sciences organize the conference. The venue of the conference will be a new building of the Faculty of Management, and accommodation will be provided at the Conference Center (single and twin rooms, and suites) or in nearby hotels. As always, the aim of the conference is to provide a forum for discussion of basic and clinical research on platelets. Abstracts on any relevant topics are welcome. All accepted abstracts will be published in Platelets (http://www.tandf.co.uk). An important feature of the EPG meetings is the informal atmosphere that is necessary for open discussion of new findings, and this is created by keeping the number of participants to about 80. Consequently, early application is advised. The young and new entrants to research on platelets are just as welcome as the experts in the field. The meeting will start on Sunday, June 25th with the inaugural lecture, followed by the reception. The main scientific programme will run from Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th of June. The registration fee is 150 Euro, and there is a reduced fee of 75 Euro for students and 50 Euro for accompanying persons. The registration fee includes attendance at the reception, the conference dinner, the first beer during the pub tour, lunches and all conference materials. Further information, abstract submission forms and forms for registration and accommodation can be obtained from: Registration form (pdf) Call for abstract (pdf) Deadline for registration and abstract submission: May 1th 2006
